CCC#7 -Tinted Vision Fragments

Week 7 of the Compendium of Curiosities Challenge being held by Linda Ledbetter on her blog, Studio L3.  The challenge this week is from page 55, Tinted Vision Fragments.  I used Butterscotch alcohol ink and Scattered Straw, Old Photo, Wild Honey and Rusty Hinge distress inks; TH stamps and a piece of clipart from Quietfire Designs.  Make sure to hop over to Linda's blog to see some of the amazing art using this technique.

We are on our camping holiday on Vancouver Island and it is another beautiful day.  I had to run home for a day and managed to make my fragment and bring it back to camp where I completed this piece.

Hope you are having a great day!  Off to the seashore today...life really is a beach!  Cheers!

Skin of My Teeth! CCC Week 6

Well, it is almost time for the next Compendium of Curiosities Challenge at Studio L3, mere minutes remain for this last week's entries but I have made it by the skin of my teeth!  I am currently camping on beautiful Salt Spring Island on the west coast of British Columbia and through a great deal of perseverance, my husband, Randy, has managed to bring up the internet!

I had planned all week to get this piece together before we left.  I got as far as putting the dictionary page onto the grungeboard pieces but with all the flurry of trying to pack our new trailer, taking our neice to Cirque du Soleil for her birthday and family stuff it did not get further than that.  So, today I spent the afternoon at the campsite doing crafts!  How fun is that?

The challenge was Mixed Media Collage.  So, I used medium gel to adhere the paper, lots of Distress Inks, some great TH stamps - of course they came camping with me! - and some of my new tissue tape.

Thanks for looking and between visiting wineries and cheese factories will try to post another entry this week.  Cheers!

Tag Tuesday - Hearts

The Tag Tuesday theme this week is 'Hearts.'  This Graphic 45 Le' Romantique Collection paper was perfect for a nostalgic tag from the heart. My 16th wedding anniversary is in a couple of weeks and I will attach this to a card for my guy, or tie it around the neck of a lovely bottle of wine. I hope romance is on your horizon this week!  Cheers!

CCC #5 - Distress Powder

Week 5 of the Compendium of Curiosities Challenge at Studio L3 and this week it is "Distress Powder."  This is a great way to add grunge to your work.  I used Vintage Photo, Milled Lavender and Old Paper inks and distress powders.  The Old Paper distress powder turned out quite green and the milled lavender seemed to all come off but left some colour on the paper.  I think with grunge even the unexpected adds to the look. This is a fun challenge, do check out some of the amazing entries on Linda's blog - Cheers!

Theme Thursday - Animals

The Theme Thursday challenge this week is 'Animals.'  I made the background with some Stampin'Up stamps and the quote is from the same set; the clipart is from Lisa's Altered Art.  My niece has a little teacup Yorkie named Malibu, and it looks just like this one - too cute.  Have a delightful day!  Cheers!

CCC #4 SHABBY CHIC

Week 4 Compendium of Curiosities Challenge at Studio L3 and challenge was the operative word!  My 'Shabby Chic' attempt is pretty darn shabby!  It all starts with not having black paint for the undercoat, the Versamark was probably too old and the clear embossing powder too dead, I don't know but all in all it was pretty frustrating.  Of course I kept trying to make it work and in the end just decided to end it before it ended me!  Definitely more refinement needed for this technique.  If you look very closely - do click on it to see shabby details - you may be able to see there were some flowers under the stamped bird and on another layer was the bird itself...shabby, shabby attempt...Shabbily yours - R.  Keep smiling - Cheers!

Soartful - Enchanted

A lovely image of an enchanted castle was provided for this week's challenge on Soartful.  The wistful image of the lady with peonies jumped out of my box and voila!  Hope you have an enchanting day!  Cheers!

Lots To Do Challenge

The challenge for Lots to Do is 'Hats and or Crowns.'    Love this happy little guy, he is from a collage sheet from Quietfire Design.  Hope you have some laughs today!  Cheers!

A Compendium of Curiosities Week 3

This week's challenge for Compendium of Curiosities is 'Monoprint.'  I used Stream, Wild Plum, Currant and Cranberry Alcohol Inks,  a drop of gold mixative and blending solution resulted in this very bright background!  Once I recovered from the shock...I chose some TH stamps and this is my result!  I am so glad that Linda Ledbetter has decided to host this challenge, I am learning techniques and different ways to use some of my supplies.  It is not too late to join in - visit Linda's blog, Studio L3 and see all of the wonderful entries for inspiration.  Thanks for looking - Cheers!
