CCC #15 Alcohol Ink Agate on Grunge

Week 15 for the Compendium of Curiosities Challenge and this week it is Alcohol Ink Agate on Grunge.  I used a Pearl Ink Dabber on grungeboard, Stream and Wild Plum inks with Pearl Mixative. I really like the result of this technique, it is one of my favourites so far.  Because I am making a technique book, I did not want to put too much onto this, so I stamped a couple of times with StazOn Midnight Blue and added a vellum piece and this lovely quote from Mother Theresa.

Many thanks to Linda Ledbetter at Studio L3 who is hosting the challenge - it is certainly getting me to reach into my cupboards and pull out things that are collecting dust!  Hop over to Linda's blog, Studio L3, to see some amazing art and dust off your inks and join in, its not too late!  Have a great day - Cheers!

Compendium of Curiosties Challenge - week #13

The Compendium of Curiosities Challenge, week 13 at Studio L3, is from page 65 of said compendium, Grungepaper Flowers!  Who doesn't like getting grungy?  All pieces were cut from TH dies.  I used Antique Linen, Scattered Straw, Vintage Photo, Rusty Hinge and Tumbled Glass distress inks. Thanks for looking and do check out all of the fabulous artwork from this week's challenge, it will knock your grungy socks off - OK maybe your socks aren't grungy, but I have managed to get ink everywhere - how did it get on my socks? I must have had an itchy foot in the middle of my creation!  Cheers!

Theme Thursday - Square

Square is theme this week at Theme Thursday; create anything in the square format.  My piece is 3 x 3 - it started out 4 x 4 but a little trim here and a little trim there...you get the picture.  The clipart is from Tumble Fish Studio.

When I saw this bottle of  'Toilet Water' I had to chuckle!  When I was young, our family was visiting some friends of my parents and my little sister dumped a whole bottle of toilet water into their toilet thinking it was a very fancy way of making your toilet smell nice!  My parents were mortified when it was discovered and our visit quickly came to an end but I always smile when I hear "Eau de Toilette or Toilet Water!"

Hope your day brings some chuckles and good memories - cheers!

CCC #12 - Chipped Enamel

Week 12 of the Compendium of Curiosities Challenge at Studio L3 and this week it is page 44, Tim's Chipped Enamel technique.

For my first attempt, I dug some metal pieces out of my stash and followed directions and ended up with a giant mess, all of the texture rubbed off even though it was completely cooked.  My dear hubby decided to get involved and we tried again.  He carefully cleaned all of the metal pieces to make sure the surface had no oils on it and after blowing distress embossing powder all over the kitchen we came up with a few pieces that sort of worked.  I have distress embossing powder everywhere - oh well, the kitchen needed a good clean up anyway!

I used a piece of textured grunge paper for the background and it is a good thing this material is so forgiving... it has been inked, painted, washed, painted and painted and inked -  Great testament to the durability of this product!

The words are from ArtChix.  I hope you are enjoying the last few days of summer and that we can all scatter a little joy today - Cheers!

Gingersnap Creations #69 - Ancient Ages
