Three Muses - Wild Thing
This is a 1990 Canadian postage stamp. This is the Ogopogo, a legendary creature purported to live in Okanagan Lake in British Columbia. Sightings of the beast date back to 1860.
The challenge on Three Muses yesterday was Wild Thing, I think the Ogopogo qualifies!
I scanned the stamp and printed the image to use as my clipart. I created the background for my piece with inks, crayons and glimmer mist. I added a bit of stamping to the background and a Tim Holtz quote.
Cheers!

Great fantasy with gorgeous colors!! I wonder if Ogopogo has ever met Nessy (the Loch Ness monster). They are both denizens of the deep! Thanks so much for playing along with our challenge.
ReplyDeleteWhat an incredibly beautiful stamp - and I love how you have used it in your Wild Things picture. Beautiful work. Thanks for joining in this week. Hope to see you back here next Wednesday.
ReplyDelete(I am an Aussie who has visited Canada and, of course, I fell in love with Vancouver which has to be one of the most beautiful cities in the world. I even enjoyed being accosted by a bunch of raccoons who were begging for ice creams in that beautiful park which overhangs the city).
I've never heard of Ogopogo, so your art has taught me something today! How clever of you to use that awesome stamp as a base for your piece! Bravo! Hugs, Terri

ReplyDeleteI only work digital (with photoshop) and have so much RESPECT for this kind of ART !!

ReplyDeleteWell Rhonda I've never heard of a Ogopogo, but it's very intriquing and I've actually been to that lake. I can see I should have looked harder whilst I was there.
ReplyDeleteI love how you took your inspiration from the postage stamp and you did such a wonderfully creative piece. I'm glad you found us and hope we'll see you again next week.
